Welcome to the Learning Through Music Website!

TThe LTMCG seeks to put music at the center of every child's education, using music as a language of teaching and learning.

Teaching Artist Corey Sevett works with students at Ramsey IFACWe believe that music opens up opportunities to children of different backgrounds for academic success.   We are committed to using music to close the achievement gap in Minnesota and the country at large.   We believe that a school without art and music presents an incomplete curriculum.   We see music as one of the doors that allows the entry of the universal language.   We see music as literacy, numeracy, coordinates, systems analysis, discipline, empathy, teamwork and creativity.

But most of all, we see music as providing hope and possibility for teachers and students.   We believe that music can plant the seeds of comprehensive school reform.   We believe that school music teachers who are collaborative and inquiry based can be a source of inspiration and dynamic change within a school.  We support data collection and assessment so that we can measure musical and academic success.   We are committed to a standard of music integration for all students.   Finally, we hold that music-the connection between the heart and the mind- provides a vital key to the love of learning.

In our own way, we try to ignite the divine spark that sets a child on the path to discovery of his inner and outer world.
